Joxiah Pacheco

Student at Salem State University (SSU)

JoJo is a student at Salem State University, doing an internship at the Essex County Court.

My name is Joxiah Pacheco. I am twenty years old, and I live in Boston. I am very happy and fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in the Massachusetts Inclusive Postsecondary Education (MAIPSE Program) at Salem State University. In my free time, I like to play video games, like Final Fantasy, and walk my dog Milo.

Best way to describe me: I am funny, and I am inclusive.

What is your vision for the future?
I want to find a good job so I can afford to live independently. I want to have a job where I can support myself and network, so I get to meet and learn about people. I am starting with my internship and want to work in the courts in Boston.

What work experiences have you had?
I am very excited to start an internship with the District Attorney's office of Paul Tucker in Salem, MA where I will be filing, billing, and assisting in the courtroom.

Which courses did you take?
Sport Management, Weight Training, Introduction to Spanish, Rock Climbing, Jogging and Walking, Oral Communication, Audio Engineering, and Athletic Injury Prevention.

What can you tell us about the courses you took?
During my time at SSU, I have taken both academic and Sport and Movement Science classes where I have met many great new people. I am currently enrolled in Athletic Injury Management and Audio Engineering. Previously, I was enrolled in a Spanish class where I learned vocabulary, conjugating verbs, and stem-changing verbs. My Spanish speaking is still a work in progress, but I am proud to say I got a B in this Spanish class.

What helped you in class?
I have an educational coach. I ask for extra time on exams.

Sometimes I get help with note-taking in class.

What are your plans for next steps?
I am thinking about doing a third year of college at UMass Boston, closer to my house.
